Poetry
In Saoró we believe that reading and writing poetry supports a spiritual and creative life because they foster deep processing, emotional expression, and a heightened awareness of the human experience. Poetry beautifully distills complex feelings and universal truths into evocative language, allowing us to connect more deeply with our inner selves and the world around us. Engaging with poetry cultivates mindfulness, inspires our imagination, and encourages a sense of wonder and awe, all of which nurture our spiritual growth. Poetry also stimulates our creativity by challenging the mind to find new ways of seeing and expressing reality, supporting deep exploration and self-discovery essential to a vibrant, full and authentic life. It is both food and medicine for the soul.
In Ireland we have a strong lineage of poetry going back to the ancient times of the revered traveling Bard. Every year we host a poetry month on Saoró and we get to witness the incredible depth and beauty of this sacred form of creative wor ship that still holds a place in Irish hearts.
Got poetry you would love to share? We warmly invite you to send in your work and we can showcase it on Saoró. This space is free, heart-led, and open to all who create with purpose, play, and soul. Just send your details & work to us and we will get in touch!

Opening the Stars
Embracing our glow / the flickering lights we show / become opening stars / as we rock to the flow

A Winter Storm
Totally wild, no apologies /
We have no control /
This is her way /
We are just visitors /
Lie & listen

I Once Was a Child
I once was a child with nowhere to hide /
Facing the world, not looking to fight /
The battle began when all had seemed lost /
I had to step up, but what would it cost

Winter Sun
For you were born when the winter sun was low /
And gave you a beautiful light /
So now you can repair with gold- /
Kintsugi style

Meet the Poet – David Patrick Farrell
To me poetry means everything… I think having poetry flowing through my mind, veins and body makes me look at the world differently because I can see the beauty in all the pain, sorrow and heartbreak

The Only Way Through
The only way through is to fully acknowledge your pain /
To love yourself unconditionally /
No matter what you've said and done /
And remember that forgiveness is available to everyone.

Brigid at Imbolg
While snowdrops bloom /
In my wake; and buds burst forth on tender shoots /
From mother’s womb/
Awaiting tenderness

Mosquito Mind
I question am I the only one? /
With an unkind mosquito mind

Meet the Poet – Siân Williams
I don't remember a time when I didn't write. My dad would always make up games, stories, songs and poems, he could create magic with words and I fell in love with how different words sounded and rhymes felt. He could transport us to somewhere different with the stories he created and I knew I wanted to offer this to people too someday.

No Other Way
There is a stirring /
Heart of Hearts /
Through flesh, through bone /
Light shines /
Undiminished

Rock and Love
I can hear the river crying /
The whisper of the wind /
The beat of Mother Earth's heart /
In my heart today

Spinning
Do you remember spinning on the green? /
Arms spread wide /
Faces to the sky /
Who could spin the longest?
