Poetry
In Saoró we believe that reading and writing poetry supports a spiritual and creative life because they foster deep processing, emotional expression, and a heightened awareness of the human experience. Poetry beautifully distills complex feelings and universal truths into evocative language, allowing us to connect more deeply with our inner selves and the world around us. Engaging with poetry cultivates mindfulness, inspires our imagination, and encourages a sense of wonder and awe, all of which nurture our spiritual growth. Poetry also stimulates our creativity by challenging the mind to find new ways of seeing and expressing reality, supporting deep exploration and self-discovery essential to a vibrant, full and authentic life. It is both food and medicine for the soul.
In Ireland we have a strong lineage of poetry going back to the ancient times of the revered traveling Bard. Every year we host a poetry month on Saoró and we get to witness the incredible depth and beauty of this sacred form of creative wor ship that still holds a place in Irish hearts.
Got poetry you would love to share? We warmly invite you to send in your work and we can showcase it on Saoró. This space is free, heart-led, and open to all who create with purpose, play, and soul. Just send your details & work to us and we will get in touch!

Determined Heart
In a world of shadows, her soul takes flight /
Embarking on a journey, seeking inner light /
A quest for truth, a path unknown /
A heart in search of seeds once sown

Meet the Poet – Maura O’Malley
I began writing poetry to process the stress, feelings of loneliness, and homesickness I was experiencing. Looking back on what I wrote, it was incredibly therapeutic.

Remove the Armour
Remove the armour - has been the call reverberating within /
And slowly, and reluctantly, I began to let its wisdom in /
Opening my heart was a battle between love and fear /
But the deserving winner quickly became clear

Healing
Healing is a word that's being hashtagged and sold, and thrown around /
But I wonder if it has truly been found /
In a felt sense and expression /
In an innate need we've met /
Or have we turned it into something else we need to try to 'get'

Phoenix Heart
But phoenix within, dormant and still /
Awaited the moment, the strength to instill /
From ashes rose a spirit anew /
To face the darkness, to find what is true

Home Body
We listen /
Listen to the whispers /
In the wind /
In the moonlight /
In the heart /
In the shadows /
That which has been buried for too long

The Passing
I'm away now /
To the land of peace and honey. /
Where wealth, stealth and things have no meaning. /
Where beauty bares its nakedness /
And stillness envelopes my soul

Meet Natalie Connolly
The decision to start writing, despite facing challenges like dyslexia and a lack of formal education, came as a transformative moment in my life. Having been a social care worker for 20 years, I decided to embark on a new hobby as a yoga instructor.

Medusa
She was forsaken by her worshipped /
The war shipped Athena, /
Who thrust upon her the crown of serpents /
And the gaze that would turn any man to stone

I Am
I am from limestone walls, conkers and hazels /
Neatsfoot oil, bridles and stables /
The Horse Chestnut stood tall at my gable /
I am the top of the castle, the forest floor

Elements
Scanning down to that fire inside /
To feelings I’d forgotten or wanted to hide /
No more pushing down or keeping inside /
I’m ready for healing, I’m ready to thrive

A Download
Dear Child, /
There is nothing stopping you /
From soaking into the arms of the absolute /
Only yourself
