East Kalimantan is home, in the Kutai national park, to an incredible biodiversity of plant and animal life and is most famous for its Orangutan population.The indigenous populations of East Kalimantan are the Dayak peoples.

The Dayak shamans work in many ways in their communities to bring together the realms of Heaven (Upper-world), Earth and Under-world.
