Why do we do Group Work with Cacao?
This is another way to understand what we now commonly call Integration – when light meets shadow and potential meets the past.
When we eat food, we need to digest it. If we don’t take the necessary time to digest it properly at a certain point, we can’t eat anymore because the body can’t take it. The same is true of our past. If we are too full of the unintegrated past our nervous systems and our bodies can’t take it anymore. We’ve all at some point experienced this overload individually and collectively and for each of us the symptoms are different. When we work together in groups/circles/ceremonies we’re creating spaces where we can digest the past together and integrate our experiences; we’re composting and giving them back to the mother, bringing light to shadow. These are also our spaces of acknowledgement, connection, healing, joy, creation and innovation.
Group energy in presence is dynamic…
It allows us a beautiful and spacious container in which many things can arise and be held – old wounds and troubles but also greater awareness and new ways forward. That’s what Saoro wishes to support in our collaborations, opening spaces in community with others and Mama Cacao in order to support healing and the birthing of a new world.
In presence together we can empty out stagnations and unintegrated energies and create internal and external movement in our bodies and our lives. In these spaces we develop our capacity to listen and, in a way, participate in the experiences of others. While doing so we can be mindful of what’s happening in our own inner physical and emotional landscapes. Our listening provides a space of respect, compassion, love and curiosity. True healing requires speaking and witnessing, owning our truth and our pain in the presence of others. This process needs a safe space where we can let go, unravel and be heard. Some of the most profound insights are received in sharing circles – listening to others, receiving what you need to hear at that exact moment, and trusting that your sharing is relevant for someone else and thereby contributes to their healing process.
The energies of group work can be dynamic, sometimes cohesive, receptive and present but at other times a little bit more fragmented or restless. Whatever arises is to be welcomed – it’s what’s happening at the time in the group. We are in the practice to just notice and allow, whatever presents itself is just fine. We learn to trust the space, spirit and the medicine.
Cacao is such a wonderful medicine for this type of group work integration
She is the essence of comfort, kindness and motherly love. A safe pair of hands we can lean into, and we can trust her intelligence completely, for ourselves and for others. Through her wisdom and heart opening love we connect more deeply to our authentic selves and from this space we can then connect more deeply and meaningfully with others. She gives us courage and supports us in going deeper, she teaches us to trust and guides our willingness toward openness. Such a beautiful medicine to hold space with.
When working as a practitioner with individuals and groups we can only bring people as deeply as we have gone ourselves in our own work. This reassures us that we’ll never be out of our depth. And though in our training we look at different activities and modalities we can bring to the space, it is also beautiful to just commune together in presence allowing Mama Cacao the space to work her healing magic.
With love
