Alan has been involved in Martial Arts since 1985, joining the Bujinkan system in 1987 he regularly trains in Japan with Masaaki Hatsumi Some and his senior Japanese teachers. Alan currently teaches classes in his own dojo in Co. Galway, holding the rank of Jugodan (15th Dan).

In 1998 Alan started training in the Amatzu Physical Medicine System and now runs a busy clinic. 

On a trip to Japan Alan was introduced to the Principles of the Feldenkrais Method and on returning to Ireland began an immersive 5 year training in Awareness through Movement and Functional Integration. 

He teaches weekly classes online via and also sees private clients in his clinic.
