A cup of peace

A cup of peace

As I sat alone with coffee warm,
and watched the world drift by,
no rush, no noise inside my chest,
just calm beneath the sky.

The streets were full of passing lives,
of stories I don’t know,
yet in that moment, still and soft,
I felt myself just slow.

The headlines shout of distant wars,
of chaos, fear, and pain,
but here I sat in quiet light,
untouched by all the strain.

Not out of ignorance or lack,
but choosing what I hold
to guard my peace, protect my mind,
not let my heart turn cold.

For once, I wasn’t searching far,
or questioning my place,
I simply was content, at ease,
existing in my space.

And maybe life is sometimes this..
a pause, a breath, a view
a moment where the world feels loud,
but peace feels close and true.

A good friend got me into writing poems , and now I find myself in a cafe watching the world go by writing down words that come to mind, feeling into an emotion and releasing onto a page.
