I started drinking Cacao a couple of years ago. In the beginning, I didn’t really have a connection with it, so I stopped for about a year. I had been drinking it on and off, but then I came across Cacao again three years ago and she just called me.
I was going through a difficult time in my life and I felt no connection to myself. I was looking for something to come, to help me get back to myself. and when I really sat with Cacao for the second time I really connected with her. She brought me home to myself. She showed me how to love myself, how to read my intuition, my inner wisdom, how to connect with my body, my mind and my soul.
I had gone through an illness. Looking back I suppose I was on the journey to heal— to heal my body and connect back to myself because I was so disconnected. I did start drinking every and every day I drank it, it just felt good to connect to me. Part of myself that I had lost for a long long time was coming back and I was remembering who I was.
Sitting with Cacao has shown me the connection that I have to myself and also to others. It’s connected me to like-minded people. So I started to hold space with Cacao and use movement to release trapped energy from the nervous system – to move, to shake, to dance, to get rid of all the stagnant energy that holds us back in life and that sometimes makes us not feel very good about ourselves. When I started connecting more with Mama Cacao, I did a Cacao practitioner course and I just loved it! I learned that I love to hold space. I love the connection that everybody has.
It’s really about just sitting and giving you that time to connect with yourself. To give yourself that space, whether it’s a half an hour or an hour… Just to be with yourself not for anybody else but just for you.
Often when I feel like I’m disconnected from myself, she’ll call me. I do try to drink Cacao every day, not a ceremonial dose, just a lower dose (also for the nutrients!). I feel like Cacao been a major part of my life for the last three years and I’m very grateful for it.
