Cacao & Me

This came to me when I was in the throes of grief and imbibing cacao.

Goodbye are only for people who love with their eyes

For those who love with their hearts and soul there is no such thing as separation. 🙏

As I sit to write this blog (with my cacao) I am remembering my first encounter with Cacao. I had recently lost my soul mate and was feeling the need for healing, but before we embarked on that she offered me a cup of cacao. I had never heard of it and was pleasantly surprised at how gorgeous it was ( usually being offered liquid refreshments by healers results in something awful you have to pretend to like), sorry…. But this was beautiful and as I found out from my therapist readily available to use myself. She set me up with it and I started on my Cacao journey.

Actually there are 3 parts to this journey so far.

My own journey.

My sharing journey.

My holding space with Cacao journey.

My own journey

My heart was broken, I was low, I missed my dearest friend, lover, confidant, but as I started to really have Cacao every day with intent I started to feel better. I now know why they call it heart medicine. It absolutely helped my poor heart heal and that’s for sure.

As I began to get confidence with this medicine I started to experiment with the dose and what I add to it. I have now perfected my own recipe and it’s as follows.

Cacao, Raw milk, Water, Rose water, Honey

I don’t measure and it usually works out perfectly .  The versatility of this plant allows you to add just about anything to it and it still tastes great. It has brought me to a place of self accepted and self love. I now know:

I am enough.

I am beautiful.

I am whole.

I am blessed.

My sharing journey:

As I got used to having my Cacao every morning and it becoming a ritual for me I started to offer it to family and friends. Well as you can imagine I have a lot of friends calling now at that time when I am due to make it.

I also have joined a local swimming group and we regularly have our swim and a Cacao after. Nothing warms like it. It feels like your being minded. So good after the cold water.

My holding space journey.

As I facilitate wellness days I decided to put the Cacao in the mix and every event we hold here now has Cacao at its core. It continues to amaze me how well it’s received, and most of the people who have it here continue with the practice themselves.

Of course this medicine is also actually really good for you. It contains:

  • Magnesium.
  • Antioxidants.
  • Calcium.
  • Zinc.
  • Copper.
  • Selenium.

So no mixing it up with the chocolate we are used to having. This medicine is a step above.

I would highly recommend you start the practice yourself and see where it brings you.

Aho.

Cacao & Me is a series where we’ve asked people to tell us about their relationship with cacao, how they work with it, what impact it’s had on their lives & so on.
