Saoró are super excited to announce their collaboration with Belfast Ceramic Artist Maeve Monahan.

Maeve is an artist and owner of Redbarn Cavehill. She has a passion for inspiring others to tap into their creativity and believes in the therapeutic benefits of both Art and Nature in our daily lives.

Redbarn Cavehill is a small independent art centre with log cabin accommodation, that embraces its natural surroundings to help reconnect us to our creativity. Being creative in nature is known to decrease anxiety and reduce levels of stress, giving a much needed boost to our mental health.

Reconnect to nature and your creative self

The shack is a converted stable that houses the pottery and painting classes. It is based in a truely unique meadow setting at the base of Cavehill mountain. Working with the tactile qualities of clay whilst surrounded by the wild beauty of Cavehill creates an inner calm, joy and sense of well-being.

Maeve hosts a range of social and soulful events for adults to embrace their inner child and take time for play. She also creates an environment for family and friends to use clay and painting as a means of marking significant stages in our lives, expressing grief or celebrating anniversaries.

Maeve’s connection to the land and her ancestors has inspired her to create pieces that connect us to the past and to the people and places that make us who we are. Her work is designed to reflect the beauty of the land and the memories that are etched in it.

For me, clay is memory. It is one of the oldest and most natural materials on our planet. In touching it we are touching the past-it’s a very grounding experience. When we create with clay our fingerprints are embedded into it for future generations.
