We stared so long
Swayed by your hiding
And sliding into light.
We named you goddess,
Asked your silver lamp
To show the wax and wane
Of our own darkness
We did not know
What was lost
In that moment
When telescope told us
You were just cold dust
On dead rock turning
Why can we not be both?
With the goddess and the rock
And the goddess within the rock?
Both in darkness and in light
