Saoro & Cacao

At Saoro we are passionate about the sacred plant medicine of Cacao & how it can help take us deeper into our individual & collective healing journey. We believe that Ceremonial Cacao should be as accessible as possible to the broadest community for all of our collective healing.

LEARN ABOUT CACAO

To this end we source & sell Ceremonial-grade Cacao that is sustainable in how it is grown, harvested, fermented, roasted & formed into bars – to allow greatest harmony from an environmental, supply-chain, economic, and human perspective. We run training so that others can deepen their relationship with Cacao & in turn hold space for others on their own journeys. We provide an online space on Saoro.org for all people to access a knowledge base about Cacao & to share their personal journey with Cacao. We support all Cacao practitioners in promoting their healing events & ceremonies online.

I started my journey with cacao in 2020. My journey brought me to Galway by packing up and just leaving. Galway is medicine to me and it's where I would go to escape for breaks until I knew I had to be there in order to survive.

Dear Child,

There is nothing stopping you
From soaking into the arms of the absolute,
Only yourself.
I ask you at this time
To look at your own self created blocks,
Notice where they stem from.
Notice, don’t follow.

I ask you to step into
The family line and transmute the pain,
Notice where others are seeking ‘distraction’
And offer them protection instead.
You have work to do
And a presence to embody.
You don’t need those that hold you back,
Look only towards the ones that
Support and applaud you.

You are a free rational human being
With a deep capacity for seeing and feeling.

Whisper the voice of your heart
And grow in confidence in its reverberation.
Speak softer and louder
And only use your powerful roar when it is
Absolutely necessary.
You cannot underestimate its impact.
Look to the places you have been
And make sense of them in everyway
But dont get caught in the hurricane of the past.

You can stand in the eye of the storm-
Arms open, feet rooted.

The time to rise is coming
All will come clear.

So keep doing your work,
Surrendering to flow.
What will be will be.

But you will see.

**new poem on Saoro**

Saoro poetry month continues with a beautiful new poem from Paulina Mostert @unearthingwhispers

https://saoro.org/2024/02/21/opening-the-heart/

Opening the Heart

Not all hearts know they are not open to see
We see the love that we know only
Oblivious to other flavours of magic
Of consciousness
Of connection
Of peace
We might not realise that what is happening around us,
Is a reflection of what is happening within us

What will it take to help you see
Will you open your heart
Will you surrender to the whispers of your soul
Will you give your spirit a rest, a chance to be heard
Do you dare to not hide behind the safety of your limited knowing

Here’s to those who wonder
To those who are brave to look beyond the day to day being presented to them
To those who open their minds and hearts to a new way of thinking and being
To those who hold the next sister or brother or mother or father to see that which they do not yet know
To give authentic kindness to each other from a place of vulnerability & inner knowing
To feel real community and connection
To remember you are not alone
To seek to create your life experience by reflecting on what is within.

A Love Song to the Earth

You have a fire in your belly that burns so hot
It opened you up to give life to us lot.
You created the mountains when you burst into life
The land that I walk on, the ground that holds tight.
You nourish your soil from below and above
Keeping me fed with your nourishing grub.
You give life to the trees, to the birds and the bees
To all living things… so many good deeds.

Along with the mountains you created the sea
Without it, I just couldn’t be.
From the sea came the rivers the lakes and streams
You truly are the stuff of dreams.
Your water inside me keeps me alive
And reminds me to flow when I need to survive.
You harvest your water to share it around,
It goes up through your air then back down to your ground.
You are very clever I need you to know
Because without you, I would never grow

The air in your lungs fills my lungs with breath
Without it, there would surely be death.
You send me a breeze on a warm summer’s day
And you blow through the trees for them to say hey.
You give me space to allow me to grow,
To see through the trees, up above, down below.
The space all around me, inside and out
Allows freedom to grow, for this I’ve no doubt.

All of your qualities bring me to life.
Your fire, your ground, your air, your water and space
All is required to live in your place.
You are the creator of life and the taker of death
I truly am humbled to bathe in your breath.
You have created a world of wonder and beauty
For me to call home while I’m here on duty.
Learning to live, to love and much more
You are the mother I truly adore.

No Other Way

Let moments be moments
Days be days
No impatience for outcomes
Breathe,
In the depths of the labyrinth
Caverns awaken
There is a stirring
Heart of Hearts
Through flesh, through bone
Light shines
Undiminished
Through night, through days
Through tears, through joy
The path is clear
We need only look.

**new poem on Saoro**

Saoro poetry month continues with an amazing poem from Laura Garbatavičiūtė

https://saoro.org/2024/02/18/return/

Across the land the first light breaks
A thousand suns as Earth awakes
The open plane wild winds have torn
Watching the World, from ashes born

Expansive silence of morning glare
Wild Sisters dance in ashen air
With gentle hands, they plait my head
I’m standing tall where mothers bled

The mighty stir as shadows cast
Intimate bonds in life so vast
The solar urge within me burns
Her ancient wisdom of twists and turns

The Sisters gaze, their ember eyes
Weaving the cycles of Earth and skies
Reminding me in silent grace
Of inner power, and its embrace

Return of mighty, the love profound
As from the ashes, new life is found
And in the turning eternal wheel
I hear my spirit ready to heal

**new poem on Saoro**

Saoro poetry month continues with a powerful new poem from Mel Murphy @mel_murphy_medium_mentor

See an excerpt of Mel’s below… to read the whole poem go to:

Rock and Love

I can hear the river crying,
The whisper of the wind,
The beat of Mother Earth’s heart,
In my heart today.
I can feel everyone’s love from miles away .
To be so open,
To be vulnerable and to experience life on earth so vividly,
Everything acutely,
It’s not easy.

I ask my self
“Who am I,
If I am not here to serve?
-Daughter? Mother? Crone?”

I can hear the river crying,
Calling out to me,
To join my tears with hers,
To let them flow,
To cleanse me of my fears,
I can hear the river crying,
And the whisper of the wind in my ears ,
“Let go“ says the wind,
And the trees join in and shake their branches,
Bow down to me,
The trees, my ancestors.

The stones beneath my feet
Shift under my weight,
Whilst the weight of the world rests on my shoulders .
I rest my head against the bark
Of an ancient oak ,
And I cry out for help in all directions .

I ask myself
“Who am I,
If I am not here to love Everyone?
Wife? Friend? Shaman?”

I hear my name in the rustling of the bushes,
The spirits urging me to move,
“Step up“ they say ,
“For you cannot be still ,
How can those around you reach up ,
If you do not rise above
The fear and pain?“

I ask myself
“Who am I If I am not here to love ?
If I cannot hold everyone and love unconditionally ?
Earth keeper? Healer? Mystic?”

I can see the sea swelling
With pride,
When I step forth and blend
With the waves,
My emotions are the tides,
And the waves are energy fluctuations in my body .
The moon rises in me,
And opens me up from inside.
I split open like a sea shell,
Hurtled against the rocks,
But I feel no fracture, no fear
Only freedom

**new poem on Saoro**

Saoro poetry month continues with a new poem from Grace Curley @curleygrace

https://saoro.org/2024/02/18/the-christmas-gift/

The Christmas Gift

I am a grown woman
And my mother has given me yet another heart.
On a bracelet this time,
On a necklace before,
Never worn, still in a drawer.

I ask myself, as each time before;
Does she know me at all?
This woman who birthed me?
I am a serious woman.
See? I wear black.
Patterns and colour need not apply.

I know this bracelet comes in heartless varieties,
Yet this one is identical
To the one she gave to my daughter aged 10
Hers with a bunny charm,
Mine with a swallow,
And I wonder at the insistence of the ceaseless heart giving

Then I remember a time,
When my mother last knew me,
When I still drew,
And all that I drew were silphium hearts
All nearly identical, a perfected art
With not an artery or an atrium in sight.

She still searches for her on occasions
On Christmas, on birthdays
She can hear her calling for her
She needs to give it back
The broken, twisted, discarded part
Taken from the little girl
I look upon the untainted silver,
Not so much saccharine sweet,
As bittersweet.
The little girl reaches for the bracelet
And finds that it fits
“Thank you mom” she says
And the swallow begins it’s voyage home
